Academic Terms
The academic terms shall commence on or about September of each year. Admissions to M.B.B.S shall be done only once in a given year.
Attendance
The candidates are normally expected to attend all allotted work periods (both theory and paraclinical/clinical) in each of the prescribed subjects. They should attend 75% of Theory and 80% of Practical classes conducted in each subject to be eligible to appear for the examination in that subject. The Principal will notify the attendance details at the end of each term without fail, under intimation to the University. The Vice Chancellor is empowered to condone a shortage of attendance not exceeding 5%. A candidate lacking the prescribed attendance and progress in any one subject — theory, practical, or clinical — at the first appearance shall not be permitted to appear for the qualifying examination.
Period of Training, Courses of Study & Examinations
12 Months
Phase I
Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.
18 Months
Phase II
Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine & Community Medicine.
24 Months
Phase III
- Part I — E.N.T, Ophthalmology, Community Medicine
- Part II — General Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, and Obstetrics & Gynecology
Candidates admitted to the course shall be eligible to appear for the Phase I examination at the end of 12 months. Candidates admitted beyond this date shall have to take the Part I examination held subsequent to the completion of 12 months, subject to the regulations of the university.
Foreign Qualifications Recognised
Foreign / Non-Resident Indian candidates for admission to the M.B.B.S course must have passed the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English individually, and must have obtained 50% of marks taken together in these subjects at the qualifying (10+2) examination, or a minimum of B or C grade in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (B grade in a minimum of two subjects). The foreign qualifying (10+2) examination should also be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
If a certificate is in a language other than English or Hindi, a translated English version duly attested by a Gazetted Officer or a Notary should be submitted. Candidates are also advised to apply to the Registrar, SBMCH & RI, Tirupati, along with photocopies duly certified by the head of the institution as stated above, to obtain the eligibility certificate. The procedure may take 2 to 3 months.
